Together with Dresden-born singer René Pape the Dresden Festival Orchestra dove deeply into the romantic soul of Franz Schubert´s lieder. The concert opened with Carl Maria von Weber´s “Euryanthe Overture”, an opera which during his lifetime had no easy lot. Robert Schumann´s spring-like First Symphony, written in a blissful stage of his life shortly after his marriage to Clara Wieck, concluded this festive program.
